STEINBEISSER

series of objects, event | 2022 | size (cm) various  | oak wood, clay | unique pieces

I created 4 GIANT PLATES, 10 INVERT PLATES and 10 pairs of unique chopsticks for the experimental gastronomy initiative STEINBEISSER. All wooden objects are made by hand from an oak tree that fell in a storm. The clay plates show imprints of the wooden structures and thus create a relationship to the other objects. The Event took place in september 2022 at the 17th century Gemeenlandshuis in Amsterdam. Chief cook was the korean nun Jeong Kwan Seunim.

By questioning the cultural behaviour of each having an own single plate, the objects are an invitation to celebrate and share dinner. To initiate relations between people, food and objects is essential for the pieces.
